Dry Signs of the Times
The San Luis Reservoir is at
nearly record lows; the photo was taken on August 2, 2013. This water deficit is due, in part, to less than average
rainfall and snow during the last winter, but also because of an environmental release
to the ocean of 800,000 acre-feet of water also during the winter.
The total capacity of San
Luis Reservoir is 2,041,000 acre-feet.
